Open Networkers

Every great networker is amazing at first contact conversations....this is the conversation you have with anyone you meet for the first time. It may last 3 minutes or it may last a couple of hours....how this conversation goes and where it leads is the foundation for building your relationship with them as well as qualifying who they are and how they relate to you.

What are your strategies and nuances? What do you do naturally that most people don't know about? If you had to give someone 3 tips, what would they be.

This shared knowledge discussion has the intention that we all become better communicators.

My greatest 3 tips would be this:

1. The obvious...get their contact information.
2. Don't try to sell them anything immediately.
3. Create an emotional rapport and leave them wanting more contact.

What are your 3 best tips?

1) Be Yourself, act upon your own communication style..
2) Be Now, don't make any references to past experiences or future expectations. Just 'network the moment'
3) Let the 'Now' flow towards you, accept it..and Value yourself.

Strange list isn't it? captain Sweep will understand. More information about my approach: www.vandenbel.com

1. Be genuinely interested. Truly listen to what he/she has to say.
Don't be one who simply waits for them to stop talking so you can give your input. Listen.
Many important things are "almost" said. Listen.

2. Keep the focus of your conversation on them.
Remember that your favorite subject is also theirs - "ME"
Even when presenting an opportunity, they want to hear what's in it for them; how will they benefit? What is their risk? What do they have to do? etc.

3. Take [mental] notes; and repeat what they tell you later in your conversation.
- Use their name (people love to hear their names) when speaking to them
- Reference their past business ventures, places they've visited, goals they have, etc.
Let them know their words were not wasted on you.
